“The train is a small world moving through a larger world”

“It is almost axiomatic that the worst trains take you through magical places”

Street Photography in carriages

Travelogue of images from the Yangon Circle Line (Myanmar’s answer to the London Circle Line) and the epic Mandalay to Hsipaw railway in Shan State. These trains are a microcosm of Burmese everyday crammed into small wooden carriages. Mobile market stalls, vendors, buddhist monks and nuns are all packed shoulder to shoulder with regular daily commuters and long distance travelers in these “mobile street scenes”.
